What is AI Strategy

Environ 7 min

AI Strategy is a directional trading approach executed by AI. It continuously analyzes market data, judges whether price is more likely to rise or fall, and decides whether to buy, sell, or hold based on that judgment.

The workflow

  1. Data collection: Gathers price, volume, order book depth, and supporting signals such as funding rates and on-chain data.
  2. Signal generation: The model synthesizes this data into a directional judgment and signal strength—for example, "the probability of an upward move in the next few hours is elevated."
  3. Trade execution: Opens or adjusts a position based on the signal, while setting a stop-loss to limit the maximum loss on any single trade.
  4. Continuous review: Strategy performance is evaluated on a regular schedule. Strategies whose patterns have broken down are paused or retrained on fresh data.

Common trading styles

  • Trend: Follows price when a clear direction has formed.
  • Momentum: Captures accelerating price moves within a short window.
  • Mean reversion: Bets on price returning to normal after a clear deviation from the range.
  • Arbitrage: Captures price differences for the same asset across different markets.

SleeplessNode organizes AI strategies into 11 trading styles. You can filter by style on the AI Strategy page.

How it differs from AI Grid

AI Grid trades in batches within a price range, without calling direction. It suits choppy markets. AI Strategy needs to call direction—when the call is right, returns can be higher; when it is wrong, losses can also be larger. For this reason, we recommend that first-time users start with AI Grid.

On SleeplessNode

  • Cycle: Each strategy has a fixed cycle, ranging from 48 hours to 7 days. At the end of the cycle, the result is settled.
  • Risk band: Every strategy is labeled with a risk band. The bands you can access depend on your account level.
  • Historical performance: Return, drawdown, and win rate shown on the page reflect the last 30 days of history and do not indicate future results.
