What is AI Grid

cerca de 8 min

Grid trading is a classic method: within a price range, place a series of buy and sell orders at fixed intervals in advance. Every time price drops one level, buy one slice; every time it rises one level, sell one slice. The spread from repeated price oscillation accumulates over time.

AI Grid builds on this method. The AI takes on the decisions that traditional grid trading relies on most heavily—and where mistakes are most costly.

The four things AI handles

  • Setting the price range: Analyzes recent price action and volatility to calculate the upper and lower bounds.
  • Setting level count and amount per level: Given the volatility and the amount invested, determines how many levels to divide the range into, and how much to buy or sell at each.
  • Dynamically adjusting the range: When price breaks out of the range or volatility characteristics change clearly, the AI resets the range so the grid stays aligned with the market.
  • Identifying one-sided moves: When the market enters a sustained upward or downward trend, the AI pauses orders or executes a stop-loss to reduce losses from one-sided price action.

A worked example

Assume ETH is currently at $2,300. Based on recent volatility, the AI sets the range at $2,000 to $2,600, divided into 6 levels with a $100 gap between each.

  • Price falls from $2,300 to $2,200—the grid buys one slice.
  • Price recovers to $2,300—the grid sells that slice, capturing a $100 spread per slice before fees, credited as a gain.
  • Every round trip inside the range produces one spread gain.

The more often price oscillates within the range, the more fills there are.

Where the gain and loss come from

  • Choppy range-bound price action: The ideal market for AI Grid. More round trips, more accumulated spread.
  • Price breaks above the range: The grid gradually sells its holdings. Further upside beyond the range is missed, but realized spread is kept.
  • Price drops below the range: The grid keeps buying on the way down. Position cost exceeds current price, producing a loss. When the AI identifies a sustained downtrend, it adjusts the range or pauses orders to limit the damage—but cannot prevent it entirely.

Parameters you can adjust

The range and level count set by the AI can be used as-is, or modified based on your own judgment. A wider range is harder to break through, but fills less often. More levels mean a smaller spread per fill, and fees take a larger share.

On SleeplessNode

  • Cycle: Each cycle lasts 24 hours. At expiry the result is settled: principal and any gain return to your balance, and losses are deducted from principal.
  • Spot and futures: Spot AI Grid trades spot only, with no leverage. Futures AI Grid involves higher volatility and risk—get comfortable with spot AI Grid before trying futures.
